All the Animals (“we”, “us”) is an interactive wildlife explorer available as a website and a mobile app. This page explains what information is involved when you use it, and the third-party services it relies on. We try to keep this simple because the experience itself is simple.

Information we collect ourselves

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not directly collect personal information such as your name, email address, or location. The site stores nothing about you on our own servers — it is a static website with no backend database, and we run no analytics of our own.

Stored on your device

To remember your chosen interface language between visits, the site saves a single small value (your language code, e.g. “en”) in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser’s settings. Separately, the third-party services below may set their own cookies as described under “Advertising and cookies”.

Third-party services

To work, the site loads resources and features from third parties, who may receive technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view, as is standard for any website:

Google AdSense — displays advertising on the website. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. The iOS app, once released, will instead use Google AdMob, which works in a similar way and follows the same principles described here.
Animal photos are loaded from iNaturalist, with each photographer and licence credited in the app.
Fonts and libraries are loaded from Google Fonts and a public CDN (jsDelivr) so the page and 3D globe can render.

Advertising and cookies

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are located in these regions, you will be shown a consent message before personalised ads are served, and you can choose what you allow. You can change your choice at any time. Where required, ads will be non-personalised unless you consent.

Children’s privacy

This service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

Because we hold no account or personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, or delete. You remain in control of the rest:

Clear the stored language preference (and any cookies) at any time via your browser or device settings.
Manage or opt out of personalised advertising using the Google and industry links under “Advertising and cookies” above.
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights regarding data that third parties such as Google process. Those requests are handled directly through each provider’s own privacy controls, linked above.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.

All the Animals is an independent project. Animal data and imagery come from iNaturalist under their respective licences; the site links out to Wikipedia for further reading rather than reproducing its articles or images.
